These delicate green stalks do not come from typical crops, but are hand-picked in the heart of the National Forests. This means that they are full of naturally occurring elements, without any fertilisers or human interference. With the appropriate permits from the State Forestry Authority, Ham-Stake has harvested wild berries while respecting the forest ecosystems and the animals that inhabit them.
And it's not over yet! Just a few days after harvesting and drying, the berry branches are carefully portioned and packaged. This ensures that they retain their original colours and textures, as well as their wealth of nutritional values such as vitamins and mineral salts. A special feature of blueberry stems is their high content of anthocyanins and flavonols, which not only strengthen the blood vessels but also have a beneficial effect on the circulatory system. The nutritional values are also present in the small buds at the ends of the stems, as the berries are harvested in early spring, just before the plants bloom.
But that's not all! The stems have a unique crunchiness and are eagerly nibbled by rabbits and rodents. And interestingly, the berry stems are one of the staple foods for wild lagomorphs and grey voles during the winter.
